- Doctoral Researcher
Ina is originally from Kastellaun, a small village in the region Hunsrück near Koblenz. She successfully completed her bachelor degree in chemistry and her master degree in chemical biology at the Friedrich-Schiller-University of Jena. The research project of her bachelor thesis, which was supervised by Prof. Dr. Pohnert, was to investigate the regulation of the siderophore production in a hydrogen-oxidizing bacterium.
During her master thesis she dealed with bacterial-like nonribosomal peptide synthetases from the zygomycete Mortierella alpina and established a A-domain assay, which is based on fluorescence in the lab of Prof. Dr. Dirk Hoffmeister. In May 2020 she joined the lab of Dr. Pierre Stallforth as a PhD-student and is interested in natural products from ancient sources. The isolation of novel compounds with antimicrobial properties is an exciting research project to explore new drugs.
